BC Hydro Solar Panel and Battery Rebates

Save up to $20,000 on eligible solar panels and battery storage.
Meet your energy needs with rebates of up to $10,000 on grid-connected solar panels and up to an additional $10,000 for battery storage systems. Rebates are available on a first come, first served basis for qualifying projects while funding lasts. You can take advantage of these rebates when you’re approved in BC Hydro’s Self Generation (Grid-Assist) projects. Self-generation gives you greater control over your energy use and helps to reduce your energy bills to refocus your budget on your business.

Workplace owners who purchase and install eligible EV chargers could receive a rebate of up to 50%. The rebate is available to a maximum of up to $2,000 per charger, and up to $14,000 per workplace, while funding lasts. Apply for a maximum of four workplace sites, resulting in a maximum project rebate of up to $56,000. These rebates can be combined with other incentives. If combined, it will be capped so that the total incentives don't exceed the total cost of the equipment and installation. Select municipalities also offer top-ups that increase rebate amounts.

Rebates

The CleanBC Go Electric Program is intended to encourage and accelerate the adoption of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) in BC. The Program aims to target current gaps in the public DCFC (Direct Current Fast Charging) network in BC such as Indigenous communities, rural and northern areas, and city centers experiencing long queues for DCFCs due to high ZEV uptake. The Program will provide varying rebates of up to $80,000 per port, and up to 50% of project costs, with enhanced rebates of up to $130,000 per port, and up to 90% of costs for Indigenous communities.

Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program

ZEVIP is a federal initiative (currently awaiting 2025 federal funding) administered by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to support the installation of EV chargers across Canada. The program subsidizes up to 50% of the cost of EV charger installations for various property types, including multi-unit residential and commercial buildings. Since 2016, NRCan has invested over a billion dollars and intends to run the program until 2027. The Government of Canada’s ZEV charging and refuelling infrastructure targets are currently 84,500 chargers to be deployed by 2029.
